“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” – April 11

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly meme hosted by Book Date. The folks at Teacher Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers have given #IMWAYR a new lens by focusing on books for kids & teens. Check out their blogs to see what they’re reading!

***What I Read Last Week***

  • Lightfall (The Starchaser Saga #4) eARC by Renee Dugan

I haven’t finished anything yet this month…(WHAT?! I know!) But I have been reading a beta read, so all hope is not lost…

That said, I am admittedly in a major book hangover slump, why? This beauty! Lightfall (out this June) and it’s sequel (out in Dec!) are my two MOST ANTICIPATED Releases this year, and OH MY, was this one SO worth being one of only a very few that make that list! I normally read several books I love each year, but go into the start of each with with only a few I’m Highly Anticipating and super excited about, usually sequels, but not always.

I LOVED this one, and need the sequel all the more! (🎵🎵Wake me up when September November ends…! 😉 That said, I recommend this series, as it has a little of everything! Found family, action, romance, slow-burns (yes, as in more than one irresistible couple!), it’s a NA Fantasy and the world-building is impressive, plus the lore are some of my favorite in the genre! I usually easily have a favorite character (or can narrow it to a few) but with this one? The ENTIRE Cabal has my heart! 💗💗💗

–What I’m Reading This Week–

  • Beta read for Angie Grigaliunas, author of above book…

As always, Beta reads are a special honor, and I don’t mention them or talk much about them until they reach the ARC time period or once an official release date is at least public. (Even then details are vague, I talk much more freely about ARCs and released reads for obvious reasons.)

That said, I read a rough Alpha phase of this one in January (that and another beta read that became one of my instant favorites!) and loved it! I instantly knew I wanted to read the series this one connects to. (Which deals with the same world, but different characters take the lead and the main series happens 12 years later.)

It’s taking longer than expected to read through this second reading, but it’s much smoother and I really like the changes so far. I loved the first read through, and knowing that I’m over 70% right now, and how much I loved the later characters the first time, I’m really excited about seeing how she improved them, as I know she’s spent over a month planning out this ending to make it fit just right with the two MCs and I’m so ready!
